Pal dei Dogi was born from the idea of transforming used Venetian briccole (or bricole) into exclusive paintings, true pieces of Venice to take home. The artistic aspect emerges from the slow and natural work of salt water, sea breezes, and the attack of shipworms, mollusks that with their appetite work the wood, creating amazing decorative shapes.
Our challenge was to immortalize Venice in a work of art capable of preserving and conveying the true essence of the most beautiful city in the world.

The titles of the paintings evoke some of the most famous historic Venetian vessels that existed during the Republic of Venice, which then, as now, followed the path indicated by the Venetian briccole.

There are three fundamental processes for the creation of Pal dei Dogi: the selection of the exhausted briccole, their particular processing and, finally, the creation of unique paintings in the world by the skilled Venetian glass masters.

A city of water and for centuries a center of maritime trade, Venice has always been traversed by the passage of ships, boats, and gondolas that navigate the lagoon and its canals every day. And it is here that wood plays not only an aesthetic role, but also an extremely functional one: to mark the waterways, briccole (or bricole) are used, large, semi-submerged wooden posts from mountain forests, highly resistant and safe.
The artistic aspect of Venetian briccole emerges from the slow and natural attrition of salt water, sea breezes, and the attacks of shipworms, mollusks that with their appetite carve the wood, creating stunning decorative shapes.
